An illustrated folio

Four ways of bringing the work together: building computers, understanding processors, photographing the night sky, and creating useful software with OpenAI Codex.

Version A

The inventor’s notebook

Warm paper, engineering drawings, and photographic details bring the courses and projects into the language of the folio.

An inventor’s notebook connecting Build Your Own Computer, CPU Architecture, the RedCat telescope, astrophotography, and projects built with Codex.

Version B

Circuit constellation

Circuits become paths across a night-sky map, connecting the workbench, the observatory, and software.

A night-sky circuit map connecting both engineering courses, a telescope and Andromeda, and Starward, Scritorio, Starfront, and MyQuickBooks.

Version C

Engineering atlas

A clear editorial layout pairs the two learning paths with the astronomy and software they sit alongside.

An editorial engineering atlas showing the two hardware courses, RedCat 91 astrophotography, and four applications built with OpenAI Codex.

Version D

The connected workbench

A shared studio brings physical hardware, an observatory, manuscripts, and software into one illustrated workspace.

A connected workbench combining the Alan One computer and a modular CPU, the telescope and Andromeda, MyQuickBooks for local accounting, and a laptop running Codex on Starward.

The work behind the illustrations

The course paths draw on my Turing Guild LMS curriculum. The hardware comes from my photographs; the astronomy references include my telescope and Andromeda image.

Build Your Own Computer

Electronics, the 65C02, memory, assembly language, and input/output come together in a working Alan One computer.
